Supporting Our Firefighters: Book proceeds reach $10,000 for Hot Springs Volunteer Fire Dept

When Hurricane Helene tore through our valley, the Hot Springs Volunteer Fire Department (HSVFD) was our first and last line of defense. As floodwaters rose and landslides cut us off from the world, these men and women didn’t hesitate. They battled washed-out roads and total darkness to perform rescues, clear debris, and check on every neighbor—often while their own homes were being damaged by the storm. Their bravery wasn’t just professional duty; it was an act of love for their community.

$10,000 Raised for HSVFD

We are incredibly proud to announce that $10,000 raised through the sales of our community book, Through Our Eyes, has been donated to the HSVFD.

This is a milestone moment for Rebuild Hot Springs Area: it marks the very first initiative funded entirely by the proceeds of this book. The project was created to document our surviva storyl, and it is only fitting that its success directly supports the people who ensured that survival.

A $10,000 commitment: RHSA President TJ presents a check to Fire Chief Josh Norton

With RHSA’s support, the fire department has already been able to repair two critical apparatus and return them to service, strengthening their ability to respond to ongoing emergencies as our community continues to rebuild. This new round of funding is the next step in helping ensure the department has what it needs to operate safely, effectively, and confidently.

For those who would like to support emergency services directly, we have included a link to our Emergency Services Fund here.
