On September 27, 2024, Hurricane Helene caused catastrophic flooding in the small mountain town of Hot Springs, NC. With fewer than 600 residents, our community suffered an estimated $15 million in damage—homes flooded, businesses destroyed, and critical infrastructure compromised.
Rebuild Hot Springs Area (RHSA) was formed in response to this disaster to help our neighbors recover and to guide a stronger, more resilient rebuild.
In just over a year, RHSA—a team of seven dedicated volunteers working alongside local government and regional partners—has raised nearly $2 million to support recovery efforts.
Where Your Donation Goes
Your contribution directly supports RHSA’s Recovery Funds, which are strategically allocated to address the most urgent and long-term needs of our community. Funds are distributed transparently and in coordination with town leadership and partner organizations.
In addition, RHSA leads Special Initiatives focused on targeted recovery and resilience projects—ensuring that Hot Springs not only rebuilds, but builds back stronger.
To support the next phase of recovery, Capes & Powers will match donations up to $5,000. Every gift—no matter the size—will be doubled and put directly toward helping Hot Springs move forward.
