A small contribution can make a life-changing difference

When disaster strikes, the road to recovery can feel overwhelming—especially for homeowners facing costly repairs. In the wake of Hurricane Helene, many of our neighbors were left with damaged homes and uncertain futures. Your support can make meaningful differences in our community.

Rebuilding lives

  • RHSA has distributed over $350,000 in direct assistance to homeowners so far, with nearly $400,000 more already allocated and designated for distribution—and we remain committed to doing even more as recovery continues.
  • The funds go directly to home owners to assist in purchasing building materials, necessities, and reimbursement for services.

Distribution of Funds for Residents

Rebuild Hot Springs Area (RHSA) provides direct financial assistance to residents through a structured, transparent process designed to honor donor intent while addressing the most critical recovery needs in our community.

Much of the funding available for resident assistance comes from donors and grantors who include specific eligibility requirements, such as the severity and type of damage, whether the home is a primary residence, and other criteria intended to ensure funds reach those most impacted. RHSA carefully reviews each request to confirm eligibility and alignment with these requirements.

How Funds Are Distributed

Under many circumstances, resident assistance is provided through a receipt- and invoice-based reimbursement system. Residents submit documentation for approved recovery-related expenses, which RHSA verifies before funds are released. This process ensures funds are used as intended and allows RHSA to maintain accountability to donors, grantors, and the public.

RHSA also takes deliberate steps to prevent duplication of funds. Before assistance is provided, we review other resources available to or already received by a household, including insurance payouts, FEMA assistance, government programs, and other grants. RHSA typically steps in after these resources have been exhausted or are insufficient, helping to close critical gaps in recovery rather than duplicating existing aid.

What Your Support Makes Possible

Every dollar you give goes directly toward helping our neighbors rebuild their lives. We are supporting:

  • Major repairs to damaged homes
  • Full home replacements for families who lost everything
  • Essential utility repairs and upgrades
  • Replacement of washed-out bridges
  • Stream bank remediation to protect against future flooding
  • Elevation projects to help keep homes safer in the years ahead

Your gift does more than rebuild structures—it helps restore security, dignity, and hope for residents and for the future of our community.

    Home repair funding is important

    Why your support matters

A home is more than just a structure—it’s a place of safety, comfort, and stability. For many in our community, the storm caused roof damage, flooding, and structural issues that made their homes unsafe or unlivable. Without immediate repairs, these problems only grow worse, leading to greater financial strain and hardship. Our funding helps ease this burden, allowing families to focus on moving forward rather than worrying about how they will afford critical repairs.

    Making a real difference

    A community effort

Our efforts wouldn’t be possible without the generous support of donors and volunteers who believe in rebuilding Hot Springs together. Whether through financial contributions, materials, or hands-on labor, our community has stepped up to ensure that no one is left behind in the recovery process.

If you’d like to support our mission, consider making a donation or volunteering with RHSA. Every dollar brings us one step closer to rebuilding our town—stronger and more resilient than before.
