Helene Assistance (Round 1)

A look at the numbers gathered from our first round of Helene Assistance Applications.

Between November 15 and December 6, 2024, Rebuild Hot Springs Area accepted applications from Hot Springs, NC residents, workers, and businesses impacted by the devastating storm that hit our town on September 27, 2024. The following are the number of verified and approved applications that we received.

Note: These figures are based on self-reported data gathered from our community members through the application process. We recognize that this does not fully capture the extent of the damage to our community. Despite our efforts to raise awareness about the application, we understand that some individuals may not be represented in this report.

We received applications from 152 individuals who’s employment was impacted from Helene.

We received reports of 30 primary residences that were damaged as a result of the storm.

We gathered information from 26 local businesses that suffered damage or loss.

Town Flooded

Our Response to the Data

Granted to Workers

We distributed $114,000 in economic relief to workers in our town who lost their jobs due to the storm.

We provided $45,000 in financial assistance to residents whose homes were damaged by Hurricane Helene.

Granted to Businesses

We granted $39,000 in support of impacted Hot Springs businesses.

We contributed $7,500 to local community organizations whose missions we support.

This is just the beginning.

We realize that this first round of funding was but a drop in the bucket in addressing the widespread devastation our community has experienced.
