A trail town like no other
For countless hikers, Hot Springs, North Carolina, holds a special place in their hearts. As the first true trail town on the Appalachian Trail, it has been a cherished waypoint for generations of thru-hikers. The town’s warm hospitality, natural hot springs, and breathtaking scenery have made it a favored stop, with many hikers choosing to take a well-deserved “zero day” here—resting, recovering, and making unforgettable memories.
Whether soaking in the healing waters, swapping stories at the local diner, or simply enjoying the quiet beauty of the French Broad River, Hot Springs has offered a sense of home on the trail. It’s a place where lifelong friendships are formed, where weary hikers find comfort, and where the spirit of adventure is renewed.
Now, as Hot Springs continues to recover from the devastation of Hurricane Helene, it’s heartwarming to see the trail community come together to show our town some support.
Donations made a difference
With the support of incredible sponsors and the unwavering kindness of the hiking community, $23,488.29 was successfully raised for Rebuild Hot Springs Area (RHSA). Every single dollar will go directly toward vital rebuilding efforts—restoring essential services, revitalizing the town’s trail magic, and ensuring Hot Springs remains a welcoming haven for future hikers. None of this would have been possible without the generosity of outdoor enthusiasts, hikers, and the amazing brands that stepped up to support this cause.
